Naturopathy

Naturopathy is a holistic alternative medicine that incorporates traditional and evidence-based research to support the body’s ability to heal itself. Furthermore, it can be used to treat a multitude of acute and chronic conditions, in all ages, right from babies through to the very elderly. All treatments are individually based and involves the whole body not just the area affected. Likewise, naturopaths focus on disease prevention and how one’s environment, lifestyle and emotions affect health.

Naturopaths utilize naturopathic principles:
  • First do no harm.
  • The healing power of nature.
  • Identify and treat the cause.
  • Doctor as teacher.
  • Treat the whole person.
  • Prevention.

Naturopaths work alongside doctors and health professionals to achieve the best outcome for the client.

The consult involves taking a comprehensive health history that typically incorporates questions about one’s lifestyle, diet, medical history, medication, family history, sleep, stress, bowel habits, digestion, immune system and much more depending on the clients presenting complaint(s).

A physical assessment will be included in the consult and may include blood pressure, skin, nails, tongue, iridology, weight, height, respiratory and peripheral circulation, plus what is deemed relevant at the time of the initial and follow up consults.

Pathology tests may be requested to help support your healing journey.

A treatment plan to support the body’s natural healing process will be designed specifically for you and may involve:

  • Lifestyle advice to promote wellbeing and reduce stress.
  • Hydrotherapy to stimulate the body’s immune system and natural defences.
  • Dietary and nutritional advice to restore balance, assist with detoxification, disease prevention and optimal wellbeing. This may involve recommending patients avoid or eat certain foods.
  • Detoxification via a cleansing diet, eliminating tea, coffee, cigarettes, and alcohol.
  • The prescription may include herbal remedies, nutraceuticals, flower essences, teas, creams, ointments and homeopathic remedies.
